How to Paint a Realistic Eye

In video tutorial Lena Danya shows us how to paint a realistic eye using oil paints. Although we use oil paints in this demonstration, the techniques applied here can be used with any opaque painting medium.

This takes full advantage of the characteristics of oil paints, which dry much slower than water-based mediums such as acrylics. This allows us to work the paint applications, adjusting the values and colors while the paint remains wet on the surface. This gives us total control over the details we develop and the relationships of the colors and values.
